The Victorian Cancer Biobank (Biobank) has developed a centralised application process to streamline access to biospecimens by researchers from the academic and commercial sectors within Australia and internationally.
The application process enables researchers to specify the type of biospecimens and tumour type required from our inventory. In addition, the Biobank's multicentre structure is ideally suited to providing the collection, processing and storage of tissue and blood samples required for clinical and translational research projects being conducted across multiple sites.
The Biobank also offers services such as delivery of fresh tissue in appropriate media for researchers within the Melbourne area.
"We appreciate the extra mile that VCB staff go to, to inform us of sample deliveries when they come out of hours. Also that they persevere to make sure they contact someone, by going down the list of contact numbers for a particular client. Much appreciated." - Dr Caroline Gargett, Monash University Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology
